The Use of WILDCARDS in a command prompt for a various purpose like as find, copy and Delete. May be you know that what is wild cards and their uses in command prompt. Just only think is you are working on charcter user interface and recently you have to find a file which name you don’t know only you had remember file name is starting is “r” or if want to find whole files which starts “R” letter in your computer. How will do that in character user interface? Wildcard are done your problem. DOS offers two types of wild cards such as ‘?’ and ‘*’.
The “*” wildcards capable to match only atmoost eight or less character of primary name of the each file. Lets start how to use wildcards for a file with their any extension.
Extension means secondary name of the file as a example if you are save a file in notepad with the name of reviews on tech then primary name of the file is “reviews on tech” and notepad’s extension is .txt so secondary name is .txt. same as all application have own extension whenever you have save any file name so which is automatically inserted on it.
